A man, who recently came back from Kerala, has been admitted to Beliaghata ID Hospital in the city. A senior health department official confirmed that the individual, originally from Burdwan district and working as a migrant laborer in Kerala, exhibited symptoms such as high fever, nausea, and throat infection.

The confirmation tests for Nipah virus infection are pending for the man in his mid-20s, according to a family member. Given the reported cases of Nipah virus in Kerala, precautions are being taken, and doctors are closely monitoring his condition.

The health department official disclosed that the patient initially sought treatment at a hospital in Ernakulam, Kerala, for high fever. After being discharged, he returned to West Bengal, but fell ill again within a couple of days. He was subsequently taken to the National Medical College and Hospital before being transferred to Beliaghata ID Hospital.
