Hyderabad: The medical community in Hyderabad is mourning the untimely death of Dr. Kuruva Raju Kumar, a respected orthopaedic surgeon, who passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 37. Dr. Kumar, known for his dedication and ethical practice, was a Junior Consultant at KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad and had over seven years of experience specializing in accident and trauma care, hip and knee replacements, and general orthopaedic conditions.

Colleagues and patients alike have expressed shock and grief over the loss. Dr. Kumar was widely regarded for his commitment to providing affordable and quality care, earning deep respect within the community. Social media was filled with tributes, with one fellow doctor writing, “It’s heartbreaking to hear about the sudden passing of Dr. Raj Kumar, a dedicated Orthopaedic Surgeon from Medchal due to MI/cardiac arrest. He was just 37 and seemed to have a healthy lifestyle. His helpful nature is truly commendable.” Another colleague noted the demanding nature of the profession, saying, “Many doctors neglect their own health, work long hours under stress, and prioritize patients over personal and family life. May his soul rest in peace”.

According to reports, Dr. Kumar suffered an aortic dissection and collapsed in the emergency room. Despite 90 minutes of CPR, he could not be revived. Dr. Kumar’s academic journey began with an MBBS from Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College in Sangli, Maharashtra, followed by an MS in Orthopaedics from Narayana Medical College, Nellore, and a Fellowship in Hip and Knee Replacement at Hyderabad Multi-Speciality Hospital.

His sudden demise serves as a stark reminder of the health risks faced by healthcare professionals, who often work under significant stress and may overlook their own well-being. Friends, colleagues, and patients continue to mourn the loss of a compassionate and skilled doctor.
