Hyderabad, April 22, 2025 — AIIMS Bibinagar has officially commenced yellow fever vaccination services, becoming the second authorized center in Telangana to offer this critical preventive healthcare facility. This initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Community and Family Medicine, aims to support travelers heading to yellow fever-endemic regions by providing the internationally recognized vaccination certificate.

Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease primarily prevalent in parts of Africa and South America. While there is no cure for the disease, a single dose of the yellow fever vaccine confers lifelong immunity, making vaccination essential for travelers to affected countries. Many nations require proof of vaccination—commonly known as the “yellow card”—for entry.

Vaccination Details and Accessibility

At AIIMS Bibinagar, the yellow fever vaccine will be administered every Monday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interested individuals must book appointments in advance by emailing [email protected]. On the inaugural day, the center served travelers from Telangana and Karnataka, highlighting its regional importance.

Travelers are required to bring their passports to receive the vaccination, as the international certificate of vaccination will be issued on the spot. The vaccine is priced at ₹300, making it an affordable option for those preparing for international travel.

Important Health Advisories

Certain groups should exercise caution before receiving the vaccine. Individuals allergic to eggs, pregnant women, people living with HIV/AIDS, and those undergoing cancer treatment or immune-suppressing therapies are advised to consult the center prior to vaccination. In such cases, medical exemption certificates may be issued after thorough evaluation.

Statements from AIIMS Bibinagar Officials

Prof. Vikas Bhatia, Executive Director of AIIMS Bibinagar, emphasized the significance of this service, stating, “The launch of yellow fever vaccination at our center will greatly aid citizens in undertaking safer international travel.” Dr. Abhishek Arora, Medical Superintendent, assured that the vaccination process would strictly adhere to government and WHO protocols to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all recipients.
