Virtual meeting

The new WHO guidance on standard case definitions of meningococcal disease and bacterial meningitis has been published. It illustrates key recommendations for their use for routine and outbreak surveillance.

Objectives

  • To illustrate the public health implications of the WHO-recommended framework on the use of these case definitions at the community and health facility level, including their application in humanitarian emergencies,
  • To engage national health authorities and international partners in a discussion on strategies for effectively disseminating and implementing WHO guidance, including in hard-to-reach, marginalized communities where the disease burden is highest.
