Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Delivers Keynote Address at APICON 2024 in New Delhi

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh graced the 35th Convocation ceremony of the esteemed Indian College of Physicians and the 79th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians in India (APICON 2024) in New Delhi as the Chief Guest.

During the event, Dr. Jitendra Singh, himself a distinguished Professor of Medicine & Endocrinology, was honored with an honorary Fellowship of the Indian College of Physicians in recognition of his lifelong dedication to academic medicine and research.

In his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed his heartfelt connection to the annual conference, stating that it felt like a homecoming amidst his demanding schedule. He highlighted the significance of preventive healthcare, underlining India’s strides in indigenous DNA-based vaccine development and its successful implementation of the world’s largest Covid vaccination drive.

The Minister stressed the role of technology in healthcare, advocating for the utilization of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools to maximize their potential. He shared an innovative initiative in his constituency, involving a ‘Mobile Tele-clinic’ collaborating with metropolitan hospitals, where an ‘AI Doctor’ interacts with patients, showcasing the transformative potential of technology in healthcare delivery.

Dr. Jitendra Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to affordable healthcare for all, citing initiatives to vaccinate adolescent school-going girls against Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and efforts to combat communicable and non-communicable diseases. He lauded PM Modi’s support for Digital Healthcare and highlighted the progress of the National Digital Health Mission.

Reflecting on India’s technological achievements, Dr. Jitendra Singh praised India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, which became the first spacecraft to reach the South Pole of the moon. He commended the legacy and growth of API over the years, reminiscing about his contributions to the API textbook until 2014.

President of API, Dr. Milind Nadkar, and Dr. R.K Singh, Dean of the Indian College of Physicians (ICP), expressed their gratitude to Dr. Jitendra Singh for his presence and guidance, underscoring his role in shaping the future of healthcare in India.
