Dubai, May 14, 2025 – In a significant move to attract global talent and recognize outstanding contributors across diverse fields, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced five new categories for its coveted Golden Visa program. This announcement, made over the past week, opens doors for professionals ranging from nurses and educators to digital creators, gaming experts, and luxury yacht owners to secure long-term residency in the UAE.

New Golden Visa Categories at a Glance

1. Long-Serving Nurses

Coinciding with International Nurses Day, the UAE has extended the 10-year Golden Visa to nurses who have dedicated over 15 years of service at Dubai Health. This initiative, led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recognizes nurses as “essential partners in achieving a healthier society and improving quality of life.”

2. Teachers and Educators

Private education professionals in Dubai, including those in early childhood centers, schools, and universities, are now eligible for the Golden Visa. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) spearheaded this initiative to reward academic excellence and contributions to education. Family sponsorship is permitted, and Ras Al Khaimah has launched a similar program for teachers, principals, and senior staff in private schools.

3. Content Creators

Digital content creators, filmmakers, and social media influencers can now apply for long-term residency under the creative residency track, managed by Creators HQ. This category, introduced during the 1 Billion Followers Summit in January, allows applicants to submit online applications without the need for a sponsor.

4. E-Sports and Gaming Professionals

As part of the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33), professionals in gaming and e-sports aged 25 and above can secure a 10-year Golden Visa, provided they obtain accreditation from Dubai Culture. Abu Dhabi also supports gaming talent through its Department of Culture and Tourism’s Golden Visa initiative.

5. Luxury Yacht Owners

Abu Dhabi’s Golden Quay initiative now offers long-term residency to owners of private yachts at least 40 meters in length. The visa is also available to executives and stakeholders in yacht-related businesses, such as manufacturers, insurers, and agents, with family sponsorship options included.

A Strategic Step Forward

These new categories reflect the UAE’s ongoing efforts to diversify its economy, foster innovation, and position itself as a global hub for talent in healthcare, education, technology, and luxury industries. The Golden Visa program, first launched in 2019, has already attracted thousands of investors, entrepreneurs, and skilled professionals, providing them with stability and a platform to contribute to the UAE’s growth.

How to Apply

Eligibility criteria and application processes vary by category. Most categories allow for online applications, and several do not require a local sponsor, making the process more accessible for international applicants.
