MORENA, Madhya Pradesh – April 7, 2025 – A horrific stray dog attack has left a three-year-old girl critically injured in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, highlighting growing concerns about canine aggression in the region.

The victim, identified as Aastha, suffered severe injuries after being mauled by a dog on Saturday in Sujangarhi village. According to officials, the incident occurred while the child was visiting a farm accompanied by her aunt. The dog reportedly attacked suddenly, latching onto Aastha’s face and inflicting deep wounds.

The child’s aunt and local villagers managed to intervene and chase the dog away, but not before significant harm was done. Aastha was rushed to the district hospital, where medical staff assessed her condition as critical.

Dr. Gajendra Tomar, a surgeon at the district hospital, confirmed the severity of the injuries. He stated that due to the critical nature of her condition and the deep wounds sustained, immediate surgery at the district level was not possible. Aastha has subsequently been referred to the state-run Jayarogya Super Specialty Hospital in Gwalior for specialized surgical treatment.

This distressing event is not isolated, casting a spotlight on the increasing menace posed by stray dogs in this part of Madhya Pradesh. Officials acknowledged that this incident echoes a similar recent attack involving a young boy in a neighboring district, raising public safety alarms.

Aastha remains in critical condition as she awaits surgery in Gwalior.
