Jaipur, June 2025 — More than 5,000 candidates who participated in the NEET PG 2024 counselling process in Rajasthan are still awaiting the refund of their security deposits, totaling approximately ₹50 crore, despite repeated appeals by resident doctors and medical associations.
According to the All Rajasthan RajMES Resident Doctors Association (ARRRDA), each candidate deposited a refundable security amount of ₹1 lakh as part of the counselling procedure prescribed by the State Medical Education Department. However, more than six months have passed since the deposits were made, and students have yet to receive their money back.
The ARRRDA has written to the Chairman of the NEET PG 2024 Counselling Committee of Rajasthan, highlighting the financial burden this delay has placed on students. With the next NEET PG exam scheduled for August 2025, many candidates are struggling to gather the necessary funds to re-apply and prepare for the upcoming test. The association has urged the authorities to ensure prompt and assured refunds so that students can proceed without further hindrance.
“Not only is this a huge financial burden for the students, but the total amount involved is around ₹50 crores (5000 × ₹1,00,000/-), which is fully refundable,” ARRRDA stated in its letter to the counselling committee.
Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has already commenced refunding security deposits for candidates who participated in the All India Quota (AIQ) NEET PG Counselling 2024, with 9,012 candidates having received their refunds. However, for some, the process was delayed due to issues such as bank account closure, refund failure, chargeback claims, or exceeding the turnaround time. These candidates have been asked to submit updated bank account details via a notarized affidavit by June 30, 2025, to reinitiate the refund process.
