The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has launched an extensive training and orientation program focused on addressing Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) in the country, beginning today and concluding on December 2, 2023. Specifically tailored for Ayurvedic medical officers from Delhi and Haryana States, the workshop has garnered a substantial audience through live social media platforms.
Beyond India, a significant global population grapples with Latent Tuberculosis Infection. This condition entails TB bacteria lying dormant in the body, warranting various blood tests or TST examinations for detection. Positive results prompt further steps, including X-rays. The two-day workshop encompasses sessions on understanding the disease, its treatment, management, and insights into Ayurvedic approaches. Additionally, it sheds light on various TB-related schemes by the Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Health, along with strategies to propagate Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s TB-free India campaign. The workshop also showcases AIIA’s case studies aimed at contributing to a TB-free India and the world.
Prof. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, the Institute’s Director, highlighted the alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision to eradicate TB by 2025, emphasizing Ayurveda’s pivotal role in this endeavor. Commending the Ministry of AYUSH’s efforts, she underscored AIIA’s commitment to bolstering global initiatives against diseases like TB.
The institute has long been dedicated to advancing TB information, management, and diagnosis, yielding considerable success. The workshop witnessed participation from numerous experts straddling both Ayurveda and Allopathy. The event also marked the collective commitment to achieve a TB-free India.
Dr. Raghuram Rao, Assistant Director General at the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), Dr. Raghu Arackal, Deputy Director General (Ayush) Directorate, as well as Deans and senior faculty members, graced the occasion. Prof. Jonah and Dr. Kajaria coordinated this significant event.
