Bryan Johnson, the 46-year-old tech entrepreneur and self-styled biohacker, has once again captured global attention with his latest-and most radical-anti-ageing experiment. In a recent series of social media posts, Johnson revealed that he underwent a complete plasma replacement, removing all the plasma from his body and replacing it with albumin, a key protein found in blood plasma.

This procedure, which Johnson dubbed “V2” or version two of his biological reset, is the latest chapter in his ongoing quest to slow, halt, or even reverse the ageing process. Johnson previously made headlines for the so-called “blood boy” experiment, in which he received plasma transfusions from his teenage son. This time, the approach is even more extreme: a total plasma exchange with purified albumin, without donor plasma.

The Science and Motivation Behind the Experiment

In a video update, Johnson explained his rationale: “The human body has a natural ability to clear waste, but it struggles with the onslaught of modern-day toxins. So what happens when you remove all the plasma from your body? Nothing, really. I did the entire thing, I felt the same, went to bed, slept the same”. He described the procedure as “pretty inconsequential” for himself, though he noted that people with health challenges might experience a boost in energy and alertness.

Johnson’s team is rigorously tracking dozens of biomarkers before and after the procedure to assess its impact on his health and longevity. “Everything I do is an attempt to discover what slows down my speed of ageing and reverses my ageing damage,” he wrote, emphasizing his commitment to following the science, no matter how unconventional the therapy may seem.

Public Reaction and Ongoing Debate

The experiment has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, ranging from fascination to skepticism. Some users lauded Johnson for pushing the boundaries of longevity science, while others questioned whether such extreme measures are truly beneficial or simply a costly spectacle. As one commentator noted, Johnson is “voluntarily turning himself into a human guinea pig, possibly paving the way for future breakthroughs in how we age, live, and maybe even live forever”.

Johnson, who reportedly spends nearly $2 million annually on his anti-ageing regimen, remains undeterred by criticism. He continues to test new protocols and share his findings with the public, blurring the line between medical advancement and performance art.

What’s Next?

Whether Johnson’s plasma purge will yield measurable benefits remains to be seen. He and his medical team are awaiting the results of their biomarker analysis to determine if the procedure has any tangible effect on ageing or overall health. For now, Johnson’s experiment stands as one of the most headline-grabbing efforts in the emerging field of biohacking and longevity science.

Disclaimer:
The procedures described in this article are highly experimental and not supported by conclusive scientific evidence for anti-ageing or general health benefits. Plasma exchange and similar interventions carry significant medical risks and should only be performed under strict clinical supervision. Readers are strongly advised not to attempt such procedures without consulting qualified healthcare professionals.
