Pune, July 19, 2025:
A suspended MBBS doctor was arrested alongside two associates after being caught with 56 grams of mephedrone—commonly known as MD—worth an estimated ₹15 lakh, according to the Pune Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell1.
Arrest and Seizure

The operation unfolded on July 16 near Hotel Nimantran in Bibwewadi, following a tip-off that three individuals were planning to sell drugs at the location.

Police conducted a raid and seized 56 grams of mephedrone, a car, and multiple mobile phones.

The market value of the seized mephedrone was calculated as:

The doctor, previously employed at a prominent city hospital, had already been arrested in a similar drug-related case two years ago.

Following his earlier arrest for supplying illegal narcotics, he was suspended from his medical post but allegedly resumed his involvement in drug smuggling after release.
Police Action

The anti-narcotics operation was conducted under the direction of Additional CP (Crime) Pankaj Deshmuk, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, Assistant Commissioner Rajendra Mulik, and was led by Senior Inspector Prashant Annachhatre.

Officers including Assistant Inspector Anil Suravase, Sub-Inspector Digambar Kokate, and Sandeep Shirke participated in the raid.

Police sources state that the doctor and Kudle had previously been arrested in drug-related offenses in Bundgarden. Investigators suspect that the group supplied mephedrone to clients within their network.
