Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir: A significant quantity of government-supplied medicines has been discovered discarded in a gorge in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, sparking a probe by local authorities.

The incident came to light after footage of the abandoned medications circulated on social media platforms. The medicines, including tablets and syrups, many with a valid shelf life for several months, were found dumped in the Budhkhanari area of Darhal tehsil, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Local villagers claim that a vehicle transported the medicines to the site and then dumped them. They have demanded strict action against those responsible for this apparent wastage of public resources.

In response, Chief Medical Officer Manohar Lal Rana has confirmed the initiation of an inquiry into the matter. A team led by the Darhal block medical officer has been tasked with investigating the incident and identifying the culprits for prosecution.

The discovery of these discarded medicines has raised concerns about the proper handling and distribution of government-supplied healthcare resources.
