Samsung Electronics is set to revolutionize the digital health landscape with the launch of its groundbreaking health care device, the Galaxy Ring, later this year. The announcement was made by Roh Tae-moon, the head of the mobile division at Samsung Electronics, during the Unpacked event for the latest Galaxy S series smartphones at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
While specific details about the Galaxy Ring remain scarce, Samsung teased the device during the Unpacked event, generating significant anticipation. “The Galaxy Watch has its own benefits, but some consumers feel uncomfortable having to wear a watch all the time, and that is why the Galaxy Watch is not enough to send essential health information to Samsung Health and analyze it 24/7, all week and 365 days a year,” explained Roh. “This is why we need the form factor of a ring to complete the digital health system, or Samsung Health.”
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch is a feature-rich smartwatch known for its health and fitness capabilities, serving as a remote control for smartphones. However, the Galaxy Ring aims to address concerns about long-term wearability and battery life, focusing exclusively on health features.
Roh highlighted the Galaxy Ring’s suitability for prolonged wear and superior battery life compared to the Galaxy Watch.
