In a virtual ceremony held at Raj Bhawan, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, today, the esteemed President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, officially launched the visionary ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign along with the Ayushman Bhava Portal. The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries including Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Governors of various States, Union Ministers, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, and Prof. SP Singh Baghel, Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Kanubhai Mohanlal Desai, Finance Minister of Gujarat, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, Dr. V K Paul, and state Health Ministers.

In her address to the nation, the Hon’ble President commended the collaborative effort of the Ayushman Bhav campaign in its mission to extend healthcare services to the remotest parts of India. She highlighted the historical significance of this launch, marking a significant stride towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare services, especially for the underserved.

Emphasizing the principle of “antyodaya,” which advocates ‘Good health for all and leave no one behind,’ Smt. Droupadi Murmu applauded the active participation and support of local governance in this initiative. She announced that Gram Panchayats achieving their goals will be designated as Ayushman Gram Panchayats.

The President lauded the government’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals and commended the Seva Pakwada initiative (scheduled from September 17th to October 2nd, 2023) aimed at ensuring essential health services for every individual.

She praised the Ayushman Bhav’s objectives to enhance access to Ayushman cards, generate ABHA IDs, and raise awareness about critical health schemes and conditions like non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. She emphasized that the three components of Ayushman Bhav – Ayushman – Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas at Health and Wellness Centres (HWC), and Community Health Clinics (CHC), along with Ayushman Sabhas in every village and panchayat, will significantly expedite healthcare access at grassroots levels, ultimately leading to a healthier nation.

Additionally, she acknowledged India’s commendable achievement in digitally including every village and district, greatly enhancing the reach of healthcare facilities.

Dr. Mandaviya, speaking at the occasion, praised the Hon. President’s support in healthcare initiatives. He highlighted the government’s dedication to healthcare, stating that Ayushman Bhav aligns with the motto of “taking everyone together and leaving no one behind.” He also emphasized the introduction of Health Melas and Medical Camps as crucial components that will be established weekly at all HWCs and CHCs.

Dr. Mandaviya also echoed the Prime Minister’s vision for a healthy Bharat and world, noting that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, super-specialty services will now be accessible at the CHC level. He lauded the progress in healthcare services, especially in the battle against TB.

He concluded by acknowledging the substantial impact of healthcare services, highlighting the remarkable progress over the past nine years, with over 1.6 lakh operational AB-HWCs providing free primary care, diagnostics, and medicines to the public.

The event witnessed the participation of Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, and senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Over 50 lakh individuals connected online to witness the launch event.
