Kerala: Renowned nephrologist Dr. George P. Abraham was found dead at his farmhouse in Thuruthissery, Kerala, on Sunday night. Dr. Abraham, a senior surgeon in the kidney disease department at Lake Shore Hospital, Ernakulam, was a highly respected figure in the field of nephrology and kidney transplantation.
According to reports, he had spent the evening at the farmhouse with his brother and another individual. Later that night, after his brother and the other person had left, he was discovered hanging. A suicide note recovered from the scene cited old age and health issues as the reasons for his tragic decision.
The body has been moved to Angamaly Little Flower Hospital for further procedures. As per reports from Manorama, his funeral is scheduled to take place at 1 PM on Monday at St. George Jacobite Syrian Church, Cheruthottukunnel, near Infopark Phase-2.
Dr. Abraham was a pioneer in the field of kidney transplantation, having performed approximately 25,000 kidney transplants over the course of his career. Originally hailing from Brahmapuram, he resided at Kooliyatt House in Elamkulam. His contributions to nephrology and his dedication to his patients earned him immense respect and recognition in the medical community.
His sudden demise has left colleagues, students, and the medical fraternity in shock, with many paying tribute to his exceptional service in saving lives through organ transplantation.
