A disturbing case of medical impersonation surfaced at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak, where a young man named Sahad, holding only a diploma in patient care assistance, was caught posing as his friend Krishan Gehlawat, a medical intern at the hospital. Sahad was seen roaming around the OPD ward and the trauma centre in a white coat with a stethoscope, attending to patients despite lacking any legitimate medical qualification.
The fake doctor’s suspicious behavior prompted security guards to question him during a routine check in the orthopaedics department. When asked for identification, Sahad failed to produce an ID card, and his name was not found on the duty roster. Upon questioning, he admitted to impersonating Krishan, who is currently in his one-year internship at PGIMS after completing his MBBS in the United Kingdom. Sahad claimed he was filling in for Krishan with his friend’s consent.
Security in-charge Dr. Rohit confirmed Sahad’s arrest and stated that he was handed over to the police immediately. Efforts are underway to locate Krishan. Sahad is scheduled to be produced in court shortly, and a thorough investigation is ongoing.
This alarming incident highlights serious concerns about patient safety and the increasing danger posed by unqualified individuals posing as medical professionals in healthcare facilities. PGIMS security personnel acted promptly to prevent any harm that could have resulted from this impersonation.
