In a significant stride towards bolstering India’s healthcare infrastructure, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated five All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) facilities in Rajkot (Gujarat), Bathinda (Punjab), Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh), Kalyani (West Bengal), and Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh) on Sunday. The unveiling ceremony also witnessed the inauguration, foundation stone laying, and dedication of 202 healthcare infrastructure projects across 23 states and union territories, collectively valued at over Rs. 11,700 crores.

The ceremony, attended by dignitaries including Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, and Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, marked a significant milestone in India’s healthcare sector. Honorable Governors, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, State Health Ministers, and other officials joined virtually from various locations across the country.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi underscored the transformative impact of these initiatives on India’s healthcare landscape, heralding a new era of accessible and quality healthcare services. “The dedication of five AIIMS facilities today offers a glimpse of the evolving healthcare infrastructure in our country,” remarked Prime Minister Modi, highlighting the pivotal role of AIIMS in extending healthcare services to diverse regions.

Acknowledging the significant strides made in healthcare over the past decade, Prime Minister Modi underscored the exponential growth in medical colleges, PG and MBBS seats, and the expansion of Jan Aushadhi Kendras nationwide. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and affordability for all citizens.

The unveiling of AIIMS facilities in Rajkot, Bathinda, Raebareli, Kalyani, and Mangalagiri signifies a monumental leap towards addressing healthcare disparities and ensuring equitable access to specialized medical services across geographies. These state-of-the-art institutions, equipped with modern infrastructure and cutting-edge medical facilities, are poised to emerge as centers of excellence in healthcare delivery.

Furthermore, the inauguration of 202 healthcare infrastructure projects, including medical colleges, satellite centers, and public health laboratories, underscores the government’s holistic approach to healthcare development. These initiatives aim to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem, enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities, and promote preventive healthcare measures nationwide.

The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to the residents of cities where the AIIMS facilities were inaugurated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to prioritizing public health and well-being.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the foundation stone laying of various health projects, including critical care blocks, medical colleges, and nursing colleges, aimed at augmenting healthcare infrastructure and addressing the evolving healthcare needs of the population.

Under the National Health Mission (NHM) and Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), a total of 115 projects were inaugurated, dedicated to the nation, and had foundation stones laid. These projects encompass critical care blocks, public health laboratories, and healthcare facilities aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality.

The inauguration of the National Institute of Naturopathy in Pune and the Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy in Jhajjar underscores the government’s commitment to promoting holistic healthcare practices and integrating traditional healing methods into the mainstream healthcare system.

The ceremony also witnessed the inauguration of ten new microbiology laboratories established by the Food Safety Standard Authority of India (FSSAI), aimed at ensuring food safety and hygiene standards across various states and union territories.

The unveiling of these healthcare initiatives marks a historic milestone in India’s journey towards achieving comprehensive and inclusive healthcare for all citizens. With a renewed focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and services, India is poised to emerge as a global leader in healthcare delivery and innovation.
