The Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP) has achieved a significant milestone, with its implementation now spanning all 36 States and Union Territories (UTs), covering 751 districts across India. As of June 30, 2025, a total of 1,704 dialysis centres are operational under the program, marking an extensive reach for providing critical kidney disease treatment across the country.
The Government of India initiated the PMNDP with the recommendation that Haemodialysis centres be established initially in all district hospitals and, upon saturation, progressively expanded to Community Health Centres (CHCs) at the taluka level. This expansion takes place in accordance with the demand for dialysis and gap assessments conducted by the respective States and UTs.
The National Health Mission (NHM) plays a supportive role by aiding States and UTs in both Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis services. This assistance is tailored based on gap assessments performed through the annual Programme Implementation Plans submitted by the States and UTs. The government’s financial support includes establishing dialysis services in remote and tribal regions, ensuring that these life-saving treatments are accessible to all citizens regardless of location.
This development was shared by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, in a written reply presented in the Lok Sabha.
