Health officials in Rajasthan reported significant improvements in the quality of health services across medical institutions in the state following over 7,600 inspections conducted from January 24 to March 3.

Officials stated that these inspections, carried out over five weeks, resulted in positive changes in various aspects of medical institutions, including testing and treatment standards, availability of medicines, cleanliness, condition of wards and buildings, and other services.

Under the directive of Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh, the health department initiated inspections at all medical institutions in the state during the specified period. Over 7,600 inspections were conducted, with online monitoring revealing encouraging progress across multiple parameters from the first to the fourth inspection.

Shubhra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary in the Health Department, highlighted the notable improvements observed during the inspections. The satisfaction level with outpatient department (OPD) and inpatient department (IPD) services rose from 75% to 92% between the first and fourth inspections. Similarly, satisfaction with the condition of buildings, labor rooms, and bedsheets in wards also saw significant increases.

Emergency services witnessed a notable rise in satisfaction levels from 28% to 74%, while the condition of honorarium for contract workers improved from 29% to 74%.

The inspection report revealed that the Chief Minister’s Free Medicine Scheme and Free Testing Scheme were smoothly operational in 95% and 91% of medical institutions, respectively. Additionally, satisfactory conditions were noted in terms of human resources and building conditions in 73% and 63% of the institutions, respectively.

Officials stated that comprehensive reports for each medical institution are being prepared based on the inspections. Efforts are underway to address any identified shortcomings promptly to further enhance the quality of health services across Rajasthan, they added.
