June 9, 2025 – Ozempic, a medication originally developed for type 2 diabetes and now widely used for weight loss, is making headlines for an unexpected reason. Male users have taken to online forums, particularly Reddit, to claim that they have experienced noticeable increases in penile size after starting the injectable drug.

The Viral Phenomenon: “Ozempic Penis”

The phenomenon, humorously dubbed “Ozempic penis” or “Ozemd**k,” has gained traction after several men reported measurable gains in length. “I recently measured myself down there and noticed I gained about one inch,” shared one anonymous Reddit user, emphasizing that his previous measurements were taken when he was already at a lower weight. Another user echoed, “I gained 1.5 inches in length. No joke. Like you, I obviously know how long I was before I got very fat. Then after about seven months on Tirzepatide in my case I gained 1.5 inches in length. Definitely not all from weight loss.”

A third man added, “I noticed that happen to me as well.” Some users also mentioned that their partners noticed the difference, especially as they lost significant weight.

What Could Be Causing This?

Medical experts and forum participants alike are skeptical about whether the drug itself is responsible. Many suggest that the perceived increase in size could be due to fat loss in the pubic area, which can make more of the shaft visible rather than actual tissue growth. “Ozempic does not enlarge your penis, but an erect penis may change size considerably depending on time of day, temperature, and factors other than sexual arousal,” one commenter pointed out.

Ozempic’s Proven Benefits and Warnings

Ozempic, also known as semaglutide, is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a hormone to control hunger and increase satiety. While it has been a game-changer for weight loss—sometimes resulting in a 15-20% reduction in body weight—experts caution that these benefits are only maintained with continued use and healthy lifestyle changes.

Dr. Vyankatesh Shivane, a consultant diabetologist at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre in Mumbai, explained, “With Ozempic, we see dramatic weight loss—up to 15 to 20 percent in some cases. This not only helps with diabetes control but also lowers cardiovascular risk and improves metabolic health.” However, he warned that stopping the medication often leads to weight regain if lifestyle changes are not sustained.

Social Media and Side Effects

The claims of penile enlargement join a growing list of unusual side effects reported by users, including “Ozempic mouth” (sagging and folds around the mouth). While these anecdotes are gaining attention online, there is currently no scientific evidence to support the idea that Ozempic directly increases penile size.
