Jaipur, June 2025 — More than 350 specialist doctors in Rajasthan, who completed their postgraduate (PG) medical courses under the in-service quota earlier this year, remain stranded without formal postings for over three months—a situation that has plunged them into financial and professional distress.

These doctors, part of the PG Batch 2021, had availed study leave for their advanced training but, upon completion, have been kept on deputation rather than being granted permanent postings. As a result, they have not received any salary for the past three months, leading to severe financial hardships for many who are struggling to support their families and meet basic living expenses.

The United Doctors Front (UDF), Rajasthan, has repeatedly raised the issue with the State Health Department, meeting the Health Minister, Principal Secretary, and other senior officials on multiple occasions. Despite these efforts, no concrete resolution has been provided, leaving the doctors in limbo. Dr. Bharat Pareek, President of UDF Rajasthan, expressed serious concern over the prolonged delay, noting that timely postings are crucial, especially as the state faces a surge in patients due to COVID-19 and the ongoing heatwave.

The doctors’ association highlighted that many have already been selected for Senior Residency (SRship) positions but are unable to join, as they await their formal postings. This delay not only causes mental, physical, and financial stress but also puts them behind their peers at a critical juncture in their careers.

The UDF has formally urged the State Government to issue postings immediately and release pending salaries for the Awaiting Posting Order (APO) period. They argue that deploying these qualified specialists would significantly strengthen Rajasthan’s ability to manage public health crises.
