No official communication has been received yet on the closure of Al-Falah University amid the ongoing probe into the Red Fort blast case, according to the National Medical Commission (NMC). The issue of closure rests with the Haryana State Health Department since the university operates under the Haryana Private University Act and offers both medical and non-medical courses. Al-Falah University was established by Haryana legislation and includes an NMC-recognized medical college.

The Red Fort blast, which occurred on November 10, 2025, resulted in fatalities and injuries, with investigations revealing the involvement of certain doctors linked to Al-Falah University who were allegedly part of a terror module. The probe uncovered a network described as a “white-collar terror ecosystem” involving medical professionals associated with the university. Arrests have been made including medical faculty, escalating scrutiny of the university’s staff and operations. The NMC has issued a show-cause notice to the university questioning its accreditation claims and possible regulatory breach.

Following the developments, the Association of Indian Universities suspended Al-Falah University’s membership pending the investigation’s outcome, affecting the university’s participation in associated academic and extracurricular activities. Authorities are conducting extensive forensic and financial audits, examining links to terror funding and other irregularities within the institution’s management and faculty.

The university’s continued accreditation and recognition by medical education regulators remain uncertain as the NMC awaits detailed reports from investigators before deciding on potential actions, which could range from restrictions to the withdrawal of the medical college’s status. This situation has caused concern among students, faculty, and parents seeking clarity on the university’s status and future.

The case highlights the critical need for rigorous oversight of professional standards in higher education institutions, especially those training medical personnel. It raises important questions about institutional responsibilities to prevent misuse of academic credentials and safeguard public trust. For the public, this episode underscores the importance of vigilance and verification when choosing educational providers in health and other sensitive fields.
