New Delhi, July 13, 2025 — The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a fresh directive to all medical colleges across India, emphasizing the critical importance of updating faculty details on their official websites by the 5th of every month. The commission has warned that any non-disclosure or inaccurate disclosure of faculty information will result in penal action against the concerned institutions, as per the regulations governing medical education in the country.

In a notice dated July 10, 2025, the NMC addressed Deans, Principals, Registrars, and Directors of Medical Education in all states and union territories, reiterating its previous instructions and specifying the process for updating faculty details. The notice refers to the Public Notice issued on July 23, 2024, by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC, which had already mandated medical colleges to upload comprehensive faculty lists by July 31, 2024, and to keep them updated monthly thereafter.

Key Requirements for Medical Colleges:

  • Faculty details must be listed separately by department and must include the Medical Superintendent, Principal, or Dean under their respective departments if applicable.

  • Details to be uploaded in the prescribed format must include: faculty name, AEBAS attendance ID, medical registration number, professional qualifications, department, designation, nature of employment (permanent or contractual), and total teaching experience.

  • The faculty list must be updated by the 5th day of each month for the preceding month.

  • Any non-disclosure or inaccurate disclosure will attract penalties as outlined in Regulation 30 and 31 of the Establishment of Medical Institutions, Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023; Regulations 9.1 and 9.2 of the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023; and Regulation 8 of the Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education Regulations, 20231.

Previously, the NMC had also required colleges to include faculty photos, educational qualifications, latest designations, and registration numbers issued by the respective State Medical Council in the monthly updates.

The NMC’s move aims to enhance transparency and accountability in medical education, ensuring that information about teaching staff is accurate and accessible to students, regulators, and the public.
