New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has strongly reprimanded several medical colleges across India for errors and negligence in submitting student admission details for the MBBS course for the academic year 2024-2025 on its official portal. The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the NMC has issued a notice calling for immediate rectification and thorough re-checking of the admission data after identifying discrepancies and incomplete information uploaded by some institutions.

The NMC noted that despite multiple deadlines, including a final extension until February 28, 2025, granted in line with the Supreme Court’s extension of the NEET UG counseling till December 30, 2024, a few colleges either failed to upload data or submitted erroneous entries. These inaccuracies were specifically highlighted at numerous serial numbers on the portal, drawing serious concern from the Commission.

In its notice dated August 4, 2025, the UG Board emphasized that the public list of admitted MBBS students uploaded on May 30, 2025, must be cross-verified carefully by both the institutions and the admitted students. Colleges have been requested to immediately report any discrepancies to [email protected] within seven days to enable prompt corrections on the student admission portal.

The NMC further urged students whose names do not appear in the admission list to urgently consult their respective medical colleges, Directorates of Medical Education, or counseling authorities to confirm their admission status. This step is crucial since only students whose names have been correctly uploaded and verified on the NMC portal will be eligible to practice modern medicine in India.

According to the Commission’s earlier notice, a total of 1,15,250 students were admitted for the MBBS course across India for the academic year 2024-2025, with their details duly uploaded on the NMC portal. The current directive underscores NMC’s commitment to maintaining transparency, data integrity, and accountability in the medical education admission process.
