With the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025 scheduled for Sunday, August 3, candidates across India are making their final preparations for this crucial examination. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has taken several steps this year to ensure fairness and security, especially after a year of uncertainties and logistical changes.

Exam Schedule and Pattern

  • Mode & Shift: NEET-PG 2025 will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in a single shift from 9 am to 12:30 pm nationwide. The initial plan for two shifts was changed following a Supreme Court directive in May 2025, leading to the exam’s postponement from June 15 to August 3.

  • Question Format: The paper comprises 200 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 4 marks, adding up to a total of 300 marks. Candidates should note the negative marking—each wrong answer attracts a penalty of 1 mark.

  • Duration: Aspirants will have 3.5 hours to complete the test.

Mandatory Documents

To gain entry into the exam centre, candidates must present:

  • A copy of their admit card with barcode

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID (PAN card, Aadhaar with photograph, Driving License, Voter ID, or Passport) with the latest candidate photo

  • Registration certificate from either the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Commissions

  • Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) must bring their FMG pass certificates

Important: Candidates presenting false or invalid documents will face disqualification and further consequences.

Security Protocols and Entry

  • Candidates will undergo rigorous frisking, biometric verification, and photo capture.

  • Entry closes 30 minutes before the exam; latecomers will not be allowed.

  • Personal belongings, including wallets, mobile phones, pens, pencils, rough papers, and books, are banned. No storage will be provided.

Dress Code

  • Wear light-coloured, simple clothes with short sleeves. Avoid elaborate designs, embroidery, big buttons, patches, multiple pockets, or zippers.

  • Footwear: Only slippers, sandals, or non-covered footwear are allowed. Shoes and heels are prohibited.

  • Accessories: Metallic accessories (rings, earrings, bangles, necklaces, etc.), watches, belts, or caps are not allowed. Religious items like turbans, hijabs, kirpans, or kara are permitted, but candidates wearing them should arrive early for security checks.

Conduct Inside the Exam Hall

  • Strict surveillance will be in place—do not interact with other candidates, attempt to change seats, or tamper with the exam system.

  • Follow the instructions of the exam centre superintendent; any disobedience can result in disqualification.

Final Reminders

  • Ensure your travel plans are set, especially if your centre is far from home.

  • Masks are only allowed with medical justification.

Non-compliance with any rule may result in immediate cancellation of candidature, bans on future exams, or legal action.
