NEW DELHI – Uncertainty surrounds the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025, scheduled for June 15, 2025, as aspirants speculate on a potential postponement. While the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has remained silent on the matter, a recent poll conducted by Siksha indicates a growing belief among students that the exam will be delayed.

Social media platforms have been rife with rumors of a postponement, largely fueled by the prolonged counselling process for the previous NEET-PG session. The NBE’s decision to reduce the cut-off to the 5th percentile, triggering a special admission round, further contributed to the prevailing sense of unpredictability.

A Siksha poll, designed to gauge student sentiment, presented four options regarding the likelihood of postponement: 50%, 75%, 100%, and “Can’t say.” A significant 35% of respondents expressed “100 percent” certainty of a delay, closely followed by 34% who opted for “Can’t say.” 16% believed there was a 75% chance of postponement, while 15% considered the likelihood to be 50%.

Several factors are contributing to this speculation. The most prominent is the delayed commencement of the registration process. With the exam date looming, students are concerned by the absence of any official notification regarding NEET-PG 2025 registration. Given the typical two to two-and-a-half-month application window, many believe the process should have already begun. The recent cut-off reduction and subsequent special admission round have further amplified these concerns.

The potential postponement has sparked mixed reactions among students. Proponents argue that it would provide valuable additional preparation time, while opponents express concerns about the potential disruption to their career progression and the overall academic schedule. They fear a domino effect, impacting future academic years.

Despite the widespread speculation, the NBE has yet to issue an official statement. In the interim, students are strongly advised to adhere to the current exam schedule and continue their preparations.
