New Delhi, June 6, 2025 – The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has once again postponed the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduation (NEET-PG), leading to widespread anxiety among aspiring medical professionals. The decision, influenced by a recent Supreme Court ruling, has stirred concerns of a repeat of last year’s multiple postponements.
Originally scheduled for June 15, the NEET-PG 2025 exam will now be held on August 3, following the Supreme Court’s approval. While the postponement addresses concerns regarding varying difficulty levels across exam shifts, the sudden change has left aspirants frustrated and apprehensive. Many view these recurring shifts as an annual ordeal that disrupts their preparation and overall mental well-being.
Previously conducted in a single shift until 2023, the decision to split the exam into two shifts last year led to criticism regarding fairness and logistical challenges. Students have expressed concerns about how the erratic scheduling has affected their preparation and mental health.
Speaking to The Telegraph Online, several students highlighted the diminished trust in the bodies conducting the exams due to the repeated delays. An MBBS graduate from Midnapore Medical College in West Bengal stated, “Students are losing faith in NBEMS and NTA (National Testing Agency). It’s mental trauma for repeat candidates who have sacrificed a lot for this exam. The least the authorities can do is to communicate transparently.”
Aspirants are now calling for a fixed exam pattern, timely notifications, and responsible decision-making from the authorities to alleviate the uncertainty and disruption in their preparation cycles.
