The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has launched a new Faculty Empanelment Portal to streamline the process of recruiting medical faculty for various academic and assessment roles. NBEMS, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, oversees postgraduate and postdoctoral medical training and examinations, including the award of Diplomate, Doctorate, Fellowship, and Diploma National Board qualifications in India.
The portal aims to assemble a large, diverse pool of medical experts to support NBEMS activities such as hospital accreditation, question paper preparation, evaluation of answer scripts, conducting practical exams, reviewing theses, delivering academic webinars, and serving as independent appraisers in examinations. Faculty can register by submitting details about their education, employment, interests in NBEMS activities, and bank information for reimbursements.
Once registered, faculty members receive a unique Faculty ID for all future NBEMS interactions. This system will also allow tracing of assignments with corresponding NBEMS Assignment Numbers. There is no deadline for enrollment, but qualified medical faculty are encouraged to apply promptly. Queries about the portal can be submitted via the “contact us” section on the portal page on the official NBEMS website.
This initiative intends to enhance the quality and fairness of medical education assessments across the country by creating a centralized database of willing and qualified faculty members ready to contribute to NBEMS’s critical academic functions.
