Gadepan, Rajasthan – February 16, 2025
In a startling incident on Saturday morning, more than 15 students from a government secondary school in Gadepan village fell ill after allegedly inhaling fumes suspected to be leaking from a nearby chemical factory. The incident occurred during the school’s morning prayer, triggering panic among students and staff while raising serious health and safety concerns within the local community.

Eyewitnesses reported that students began experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and difficulty breathing. School authorities acted swiftly, rushing affected students to local hospitals for urgent medical care. Fortunately, most students were reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment.

Despite these allegations, Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL), the industrial plant closest to the school, has denied any responsibility for the incident. Ajay Tayal, the plant head, asserted that there was no gas release from the CFCL facility on that morning. “Our monitoring systems detected no leaks, and we are fully compliant with safety regulations,” he stated, suggesting that the cause of the exposure needs further investigation.

Local authorities, led by Kota Collector Dr. Ravindra Goswami, have launched a thorough investigation into the matter. The pollution control board has been called in to conduct air quality tests and assess whether any hazardous emissions could have affected the school. Additionally, district officials have assured the public that all necessary measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future and safeguard the well-being of students.

As the investigation unfolds, concerned parents and residents demand transparency and accountability to ensure the safety of their children. Environmental activists in the region have also urged for stricter monitoring of industrial emissions to prevent potential health hazards in nearby residential and educational areas.

Authorities are expected to release their findings in the coming days, which could shed light on the cause of the students’ sudden illness and determine whether industrial pollution played a role in the alarming event.
