In a significant move to promote accessible and affordable healthcare, the Ministry of Ayush announced the launch of a sensitisation programme targeting executive officials of insurance companies and owners of Ayush hospitals. The programme is scheduled to take place on May 27 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in the national capital.
The initiative aims to facilitate the empanelment of public and private Ayush hospitals for insurance coverage in India. The Ministry stated that the programme will also explore the regulatory framework and policy support necessary to integrate Ayush treatments into mainstream health insurance schemes. By fostering a dialogue between key stakeholders, the programme seeks to address the challenges and opportunities within the Ayush sector.
In line with the growing demand for Ayush treatments, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has recently advised all insurers to include AYUSH coverage in their offerings. This directive highlights the increasing recognition of traditional Indian medicine systems in the broader healthcare landscape.
Key topics of discussion during the programme will include coverage in the Ayush sector, the development of standard treatment guidelines (STG), and the implementation of ICD codes for the insurance sector. Additionally, the event will focus on the penetration of Ayush treatments within the insurance sector.
The programme will also showcase the achievements and success stories of the All India Institute of Ayurveda, and discuss the onboarding of Ayush hospitals onto the ROHINI platform. This platform aims to streamline the empanelment process for Ayush hospitals seeking insurance coverage.
By bringing together insurance executives and Ayush hospital owners, the Ministry of Ayush hopes to create a more inclusive and comprehensive healthcare system that benefits patients across the country. The sensitisation programme represents a crucial step towards mainstreaming Ayush treatments and ensuring that they are accessible and affordable for all.
