Karnataka: A shocking case of alleged medical negligence has surfaced in Dakshina Kannada district, where a doctor reportedly left a piece of bandage inside a woman’s abdomen following a caesarean section. The incident, which took place at a private hospital in Puttur in November 2024, was brought to public attention by the woman’s husband, Mr. Gagandeep B, through a social media post on February 21, 2025.
According to Mr. Gagandeep, his wife experienced severe pain and discomfort after being discharged from the hospital. Subsequent medical examinations, including an abdominal scan, revealed that a bandage had been accidentally left inside her abdomen during the surgery. The foreign object was removed through another surgical procedure at a different hospital, and the woman is currently in recovery.
While Mr. Gagandeep has vocally demanded justice for his wife and their newborn, no formal complaint has been lodged against the doctor or the hospital as of now. The case has sparked concerns about medical safety protocols and the importance of stringent post-operative checks to prevent such incidents.
Authorities have yet to confirm any official investigation into the matter, but the hospital administration is expected to release a statement addressing the allegations.
