31st March Delhi, India – A significant fire broke out at Makkar Multispeciality Hospital in Laxmi Nagar, Delhi, on Sunday night, creating a chaotic scene as patients and their families were temporarily trapped. Thankfully, authorities have confirmed that no casualties were reported.

The Delhi Fire Service and local police responded rapidly to the emergency. Upon receiving the distress call, teams from Laxmi Nagar Police Station and surrounding stations, along with multiple fire tenders, rushed to the scene to initiate a rescue and firefighting operation.

“We received a call regarding a fire at a hospital. The fire was on the ground floor and it has been doused. There are no injuries,” confirmed Fire Officer Deepak Hooda to IANS. He also clarified initial reports of a child being affected, stating that the child had been safely removed prior to the fire department’s arrival.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of panic as flames engulfed a portion of the hospital’s ground floor. Four fire tenders were deployed, and firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. The rescue operation prioritized the safe evacuation of patients, staff, and visitors.

“The fire that broke out today was extinguished in time,” Hooda said, emphasizing the swift action taken by the fire service.

Although the fire has been extinguished, the cause remains under investigation. Officials suspect an electrical malfunction may have triggered the incident.

The incident has raised concerns about fire safety and emergency preparedness at healthcare facilities in the city. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause and implement necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.
