New Delhi, February 5, 2025: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has come under scrutiny for a scheduling oversight in the upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Super Speciality (NEET-SS) 2024 exam.
Aspirants have raised concerns over a significant clash in the exam schedule. Candidates with an MD in Medicine, aiming for super-specialties in Respiratory Medicine and Medical Oncology, are now compelled to choose only one, as both exams are scheduled for the morning shift on March 29, 2025 (9 AM – 11:30 AM).
This scheduling conflict was brought to light when NBEMS released the official timetable for the medical examination on February 4, 2025. The issue has sparked frustration among aspirants who argue that they are being unfairly restricted in their career choices despite being eligible for both specialties. Many affected candidates have termed it a “blunder” and urged NBEMS to reconsider and revise the exam timetable to ensure fair opportunities.
Health activist Dr. Vivek Pandey voiced strong criticism regarding the scheduling mishap. Speaking to EdexLive, he remarked, “NBE’s decision to schedule Respiratory Medicine and Medical Oncology exams at the same time in NEET-SS 2024 is a major blunder. It unfairly forces MD Medicine candidates to choose between two crucial super-specialties, limiting their career options.”
Dr. Pandey further stated that this reflects poor planning, a lack of consultation, and a repetition of past scheduling errors. “Instead of facilitating opportunities, NBE is restricting aspirants through an irrational schedule. Immediate revision of the exam timetable is necessary to ensure fairness for all candidates,” he added.
The registration process for NEET-SS 2024 commenced on February 4, and candidates can apply until February 24, 2025. As per the official notification, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on March 29 and 30, 2025.
