Maharashtra is taking a major step forward in cancer care with the launch of day care chemotherapy centers in six cities. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced the initiative, which aims to enhance healthcare accessibility, especially for women in rural areas.

The new facilities will be set up in Thane, Solapur, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded, and Wardha. These centers will allow patients to receive chemotherapy treatments without requiring prolonged hospital stays, making cancer care more convenient and accessible.

In addition to these centers, the initiative includes eight cancer mobile vans, 102 regular ambulances, seven advanced life support ambulances, two computed tomography (CT) machines, and 80 handheld digital X-ray machines. These mobile healthcare units are designed to reach underserved regions, ensuring that crucial diagnostic and treatment services are available to all.

The state government has also launched a large-scale health program targeting two crore women, offering screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, and haemoglobin levels. Additional support initiatives include the ‘Deputy Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell’ and the introduction of the ‘Mayaka’ app, which focuses on mental well-being.

Furthermore, as part of the ‘Har Ghar Ayurveda’ scheme, a wellness centre and a herbal garden will be established in Satara district. This initiative seeks to promote holistic health practices and integrate traditional medicine into everyday healthcare.

With these developments, Maharashtra aims to bridge healthcare gaps and provide crucial cancer care services, particularly for those in remote and underserved communities.
