In a pioneering initiative, the Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Kanpur has unveiled the ‘Ram Kit,’ an emergency package designed for heart patients. This innovative kit, featuring a photograph of Lord Ram, is part of the hospital’s commitment to the concept of ‘We Treat, He Cures.’ With essential medications and emergency contact information, the Ram Kit aims to provide immediate relief to individuals experiencing heart ailments.
The Cantonment hospital in Prayagraj district is set to become the first in the state to distribute the Ram Kit, intending to reach 5,000 families in the city starting this Saturday. Dr. S.K. Pandey, the director of the Cantonment hospital, highlighted the significance of the kit, emphasizing its potential to offer critical support during emergencies.
The Ram Kit includes three vital medicines: Ecosprin (a blood thinner), Rosuvastatin (for cholesterol control), and Sorbitrate (enhancing heart function). These medications are carefully selected to provide immediate relief to individuals dealing with heart-related issues. Dr. Pandey pointed out that the winter season often sees an increase in heart diseases and strokes, making the Ram Kit a valuable resource for those in need of urgent assistance.
Dr. Neeraj Kumar, senior cardiologist at Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, explained that the name ‘Ram Kit’ is inspired by the universal faith in Lord Ram’s name. He highlighted the life-saving nature of the kit, containing medications to thin blood, open blocked heart veins, and deliver prompt relief to heart patients.
Priced at a nominal Rs 7, the Ram Kit is deliberately designed to cater to the financial constraints of the underprivileged. Dr. Kumar emphasized the inclusivity of the initiative, ensuring that even the poorest individuals can access life-saving medications during crucial moments.
However, Dr. Pandey cautioned against solely relying on the kit and urged individuals experiencing chest pain to seek medical attention promptly. The Ram Kit serves as a valuable tool for providing doctors with the critical “golden hour” to save lives, underscoring the importance of prompt medical intervention during cardiac emergencies.
