Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced a new initiative to protect healthcare workers from hepatitis B infection by rolling out a statewide vaccination drive targeting medical professionals and support staff across both government and private healthcare facilities.
The decision comes in response to the persistent risk of hepatitis B transmission faced by healthcare workers due to occupational exposure to blood and bodily fluids. According to health officials, the vaccination campaign is expected to significantly reduce the incidence of hepatitis B among frontline medical personnel, who are at heightened risk due to their daily interactions with patients.
