Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a 10-day probe following the deaths of more than 20 people due to heart attacks in Hassan district, amid rising public concerns about a possible link to recent COVID-19 vaccinations. The state government has also formed an expert panel to examine the circumstances and determine if there is any connection between the fatalities and the vaccine rollout.

Addressing the media, CM Siddaramaiah emphasized that the government “will not ignore vaccine concerns” and is committed to transparency and public safety. The move comes after opposition parties criticized the government for not responding swiftly to the spate of deaths, demanding accountability and a thorough investigation.

Health officials in Karnataka have urged the public not to panic, stating that the expert committee will review all available data, including medical histories and vaccination records, before drawing any conclusions. The government has assured that findings from the probe will be made public and appropriate action will be taken if any lapses are identified.

The issue has sparked debate across the state, with some residents expressing anxiety over vaccine safety. However, health authorities and experts continue to stress that vaccines remain a critical tool in combating COVID-19, and that adverse events are closely monitored as part of national protocols.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and will ensure a scientific and unbiased investigation,” said a senior health department official involved in the probe.
