TOKYO, JAPAN – Ryo Tatsuki, a Japanese manga author who has drawn comparisons to the famed Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga, is back in the headlines with a chilling prediction: the devastating virus that crippled the globe starting in 2020 is set to make a comeback around 2030.

Tatsuki gained notoriety after followers pointed to her 1999 comic, “The future as I see it,” as accurately foretelling the COVID-19 pandemic. In the publication, she reportedly wrote, “Around 2020, an unknown virus will appear, reaching its peak in April.” While the exact peak timing varied globally, the emergence of a novel virus causing widespread devastation aligned closely with the onset of the COVID-19 crisis.

The pandemic, particularly the deadly Delta variant wave in 2021, resulted in millions of deaths worldwide and unprecedented lockdowns before gradually subsiding around 2022.

However, according to Tatsuki’s same 1999 work, the respite may be temporary. She prophesied that the virus “will then vanish but reappear around 10 years later,” placing its potential return squarely in the year 2030.

Tatsuki’s followers claim she has a track record, citing alleged predictions of the deaths of Queen singer Freddie Mercury and Princess Diana, supposedly derived from visions received in dreams.

While the scientific community focuses on tangible threats and preparedness, Tatsuki’s prediction coincides with ongoing global health discussions. Scientists globally have warned about the potential for “Disease X” – an unknown pathogen that could trigger the next pandemic. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) recently advanced discussions on an accord to better manage future pandemics, learning from the COVID-19 experience. Current threats like H5N1 bird flu, measles, mpox, and Ebola also continue to pose risks in various regions.

Adding a layer of complexity to Tatsuki’s predictions is her reported belief in a “15-year cycle.” This suggests that if a predicted event doesn’t occur in the specified year (like 2030 for the virus’s return), the potential danger might be postponed by 15 years, potentially shifting to 2045 in this case.

A more immediate test of her prophetic abilities, according to her writings, looms large. Tatsuki has also predicted a massive tsunami striking Japan in July 2025. Should this catastrophic event occur as foretold, it would undoubtedly lend significant weight to her other predictions, including the ominous return of the pandemic virus in 2030.

For now, the world watches and waits, grappling with current health challenges while remaining vigilant against future threats, whether foreseen by science or prophecy.
