New Delhi, April 8: India’s healthcare sector is anticipating a robust increase in hiring activity during the first half of 2025, building on momentum from the previous year. A report released Monday by TeamLease Edtech indicates a hiring intent of 52 per cent for the January to June period, reflecting a 5 percent rise compared to the July-December 2024 timeframe.
The growth is reportedly fuelled by significant advancements in digital health solutions, the ongoing expansion of diagnostic services across the country, and an increasing demand for professionals with specialised care skills. The report highlights that India’s healthcare market is projected to expand substantially, potentially reaching a value of $638 billion by 2025, which translates into numerous job opportunities.
Major metropolitan areas, including Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai, are identified as key hotspots experiencing a considerable surge in healthcare recruitment.
Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO of TeamLease Edtech, noted that the integration of technology is a major driver. “With hospitals and healthcare providers integrating AI-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and data-driven treatment models, the demand for skilled professionals has intensified,” Rooj stated. He added that increased investments in research and medical infrastructure are also contributing to job creation, particularly in emerging healthcare hubs beyond the major metros.
The report details a shift in demand towards specific roles. Bengaluru shows the highest demand for Medical Transcriptionists at 65 percent, while Delhi leads in the need for Clinical Data Analysts at 60 percent. Other roles in high demand include Pharmacy Technicians in Gurugram (58 percent), Phlebotomists (55 percent), and Dieticians (51 percent).
Significantly, the report observes that Tier 2 cities are increasingly becoming vibrant centres for both the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, indicating a broadening geographical base for industry growth.
In response to these trends, several certification courses are gaining prominence among aspiring healthcare professionals. In-demand programmes highlighted include Applied Clinical Data Analysis, Medical Reference Application, Pharmacy Technician Certification, Data Management, Clinical Documentation Software Training, Laboratory and Phlebotomy Software, and Automated Transcription Applications. The report suggests these certifications are crucial for equipping professionals with the skills needed in the evolving healthcare landscape.
