New Delhi, August 4, 2025: India’s ambitious push towards a connected digital health ecosystem has achieved several significant milestones, as revealed in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav.

As of July 28, 2025, a total of 79.71 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) accounts have been created, empowering citizens with secure access to their digital health profiles. Furthermore, approximately 65.09 crore health records have already been linked to these accounts, reflecting the rapid digitization of healthcare data across the nation.

Jadhav, in his written reply, highlighted the increasing participation of healthcare providers in this initiative. Around 4.17 lakh health facilities are now registered in the Health Facility Registry (HFR), accompanied by nearly 6.76 lakh healthcare professionals. Of these, 3,20,973 facilities are equipped with ABDM-enabled software, actively contributing to the digital transformation of healthcare. These facilities span 771 districts, underscoring wide national coverage.

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) aims to create a platform that enables safe and interoperable exchange of health data, facilitating the formation of a seamless, longitudinal electronic health record for every citizen.

To address the challenges faced by areas with limited internet connectivity, the ABDM has incorporated assisted registration solutions. This includes an offline mode for ABHA account creation, ensuring no region lags due to technological barriers. The National Health Authority is leading the rollout in close partnership with state governments, with real-time implementation progress accessible through a public dashboard, offering granular state, district, and hospital-level analytics.

Highlighting the role of technology in expanding healthcare access, Jadhav noted that the digital health ecosystem boosts continuity and availability of care, especially in remote settings. Telemedicine has emerged as a cornerstone of this effort: the eSanjeevani service—operational in all 36 states and union territories—has catered to over 39 crore patients as of July 28, 2025.

Operated through 1,34,029 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (formerly health and wellness centres) and supported by 17,568 hubs and 719+ online OPDs, eSanjeevani engages more than 2,24,528 doctors, specialists, and health workers in telemedicine delivery. Efforts to extend broadband coverage down to sub-health centre levels are also ongoing, with state governments actively collaborating with telecom providers.

Jadhav emphasized that initiatives under ABDM aim to ensure that every citizen can reap the benefits of India’s digital health revolution, promoting universal health coverage and bridging access gaps through innovation.
