India and the Netherlands have joined forces to establish regulations for medical products and elevate the standard of healthcare services in both nations. This collaborative effort was formalized with the signing of a memorandum of intent (MoI) in The Hague, where Bhagwant Khuba, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, met with Ernst Kuipers, Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Accompanied by an Indian delegation led by Khuba, the visit to the Netherlands coincided with the second World Local Production Forum (WLPF) meeting, taking place from November 6th to 8th, 2023. The WLPF, established at the behest of the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to expand accessibility to medicines and other health-related technologies.

During his trip, Khuba also toured the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and engaged in a productive conversation with Carla van Rooijen, Director of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Technology Division, focusing on regulations in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors. Furthermore, Khuba paid a visit to Bilthoven Biologicals, part of the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, renowned as the world’s largest vaccine producer.

In addition to these engagements, Khuba explored the Port of Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe, and discussed the port’s ambitious plans for a hydrogen hub with Boudwijn Simmons, COO, and other officials.
