New Delhi, July 28, 2025 — The Indian Medical Association-Junior Doctors’ Network (IMA-JDN) has formally appealed to Union Health Minister J P Nadda, expressing serious concerns regarding the allocation of far-flung exam centres for this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG), scheduled for August 3.

The urgent representation arrives amidst reports from medical aspirants nationwide, many of whom have been assigned examination centres in states far from their homes. This scenario has resulted in heightened distress and anxiety for thousands, with candidates describing the prospect of costly and strenuous travel to unfamiliar locations.

In its official statement, IMA-JDN highlighted the disproportionate impact on economically weaker candidates, women, and students from remote or rural areas. “This move is causing much concern, especially among the economically weaker sections, ladies, and those from remote or rural regions,” the doctors’ body remarked. The representation underscored not just the issue of fairness, but also potential negative effects on student mental well-being and performance during this critical, once-a-year opportunity.

While some aspirants have received test centres in nearby cities, IMA-JDN noted that many others face travel across states, thus calling on the Union Health Ministry to instruct the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to reopen the exam centre change portal. This, the association insists, will allow affected candidates to opt for centres within their home state or at more accessible locations.

“IMA-JDN remains committed to ensuring equity and accessibility in all aspects of medical education and examination systems,” the organization added, reaffirming its advocacy for more equitable examination logistics moving forward.
