Gurugram, May 16, 2025:
In a remarkable act of courage and compassion, the family of a 37-year-old man from Gurugram has given the gift of life to three individuals through organ donation, following his untimely death due to a brain hemorrhage.

The man was admitted to Manipal Hospital, Gurugram, on May 1 after suffering a sudden brain hemorrhage and rapid loss of consciousness. Despite intensive care and ventilatory support, his condition deteriorated, and he was declared brain dead on May 12, 2025. He is survived by his wife and a 9-year-old child.

Amidst profound grief, the man’s wife, supported by her family and the hospital’s counseling team, made the selfless decision to donate his organs. The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) coordinated the retrieval and allocation of his liver and both kidneys. The heart and lungs were found unfit for transplantation.

The liver was transplanted into a 61-year-old man, and one kidney went to a 52-year-old man, both at HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Dwarka. The second kidney was successfully transplanted into a 59-year-old woman at another private hospital in Delhi.

Dr. Shrikanth Srinivasan, Chairman of the Manipal Institute of Critical Care Medicine, praised the family’s strength, stating,

“Their strength and compassion in such a difficult time are truly inspiring and serve as a powerful reminder of the impact one life can have on many.”

Dr. (Col) Avnish Seth VSM, Head of Manipal Organ Sharing and Transplant (MOST), emphasized the importance of trust and transparency in organ allocation, adding,

“This altruistic gesture by the family has saved three lives, and this is the true spirit of humanity. He will live on.”

The hospital reiterated that organ donation should be an integral part of end-of-life care, and that transparent allocation processes, such as those managed by NOTTO, help build public trust and encourage more families to consider organ donation.
