In a historic milestone for India, the Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyaan has achieved an unprecedented five Guinness World Records, showcasing the nation’s commitment to holistic healthcare and the increasing global recognition of Ayurveda. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), supported by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, successfully concluded the first phase of the campaign on 20th February 2025 in Mumbai.
Five Guinness World Records Achieved:
- Most pledges received for a health campaign in one week: A record-breaking 6,004,912 pledges, surpassing the minimum requirement of 14,571. This established a new benchmark, as there was no previous record holder.
- Most pledges received for a health campaign in one month: A total of 13,892,976 pledges, shattering the previous record of 58,284 held by Cigna & CMB Life Insurance Company Limited (China).
- Most pledges received for a health campaign overall: Surpassing the earlier record of 569,057 pledges held by Zifi FDC Limited (India), with 13,892,976 pledges.
- Largest online photo album of people displaying a digital certificate: 62,525 photos, exceeding the previous record of 29,068 photos held by Accenture Solutions Private Limited (India).
- Largest online video album of people saying the same sentence: 12,798 videos, breaking the previous record of 8,992 videos held by Ghe Bharari, Rahul Kulkarni, and Neelam Edlabadkar (India).
Guinness World Records adjudicator, Mr. Richard Williams Stenning, officially announced the successful completion of all five records. He presented the certificates to the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav. Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included Maharashtra’s Health Minister Shri Prakash Abitkar, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, and Chairman of NCISM Vaidya Jayant Devpujar.
A Milestone for Ayurveda and Holistic Healthcare
Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav emphasized the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to advancing Ayurveda and Ayush healthcare systems. He outlined the various initiatives being undertaken to integrate Ayurveda into mainstream public health services, praising the dedication of Ayurveda professionals in making the campaign a success.
Maharashtra’s Health Minister Shri Prakash Abitkar underscored the importance of the initiative in reinstating Ayurveda as a vital healthcare practice. He assured Maharashtra’s continued participation in expanding Ayurveda-based health interventions.
Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Padmashri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, celebrated the campaign’s success, highlighting that the Ministry has set six world records within just two months. He expressed confidence that under strong leadership, the Ministry of Ayush will continue achieving significant milestones in the future.
Nationwide Participation and Data-Driven Insights
The campaign, initially announced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on National Ayurveda Day, received widespread support across the country. A landmark moment was when President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, became the first individual to undergo Prakriti assessment, inspiring millions to participate.
The first phase of the Abhiyaan witnessed overwhelming participation, with Prakriti Parikshan conducted for over 1.29 crore individuals, surpassing the initial target of 1 crore. This remarkable feat involved 1,81,667 volunteers, including 1,33,758 Ayurveda students, 16,155 teachers, and 31,754 physicians. The campaign represented a diverse cross-section of Indian society, reflecting the nation’s unity in diversity.
