Kolkata, May 8, 2025 – In a unique initiative to mark International Thalassemia Day, beloved characters from Satyajit Ray’s iconic Feluda detective series-Feluda, Topshe, and Jatayu-were seen walking the streets of Kolkata on Wednesday. The event, organized by local health organizations and thalassemia support groups, aimed to raise public awareness about thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder that affects thousands across India.
Dressed as the legendary sleuth Feluda, his cousin Topshe, and the affable writer Jatayu, volunteers distributed informative pamphlets, interacted with passersby, and encouraged people to get screened for thalassemia. The campaign highlighted the importance of early detection and the need for regular blood transfusions for patients living with the condition.
