DAMOH, MADHYA PRADESH – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has launched an investigation into shocking allegations surrounding a fake cardiologist whose treatments at a Mission Hospital in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, are reportedly linked to the deaths of seven patients.

The case involves an individual who allegedly impersonated a renowned UK-based cardiologist, identified as ‘Dr N John Camm,’ to practice medicine. Concerns escalated after reports emerged connecting this fraudulent practice to seven patient fatalities at the hospital.

NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo confirmed the commission’s involvement, stating that an NHRC team is scheduled to be stationed in Damoh from April 7th to 9th to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. The investigation was spurred by a complaint filed by local resident Deepak Tiwari.

Mr. Tiwari’s complaint not only highlighted the alleged impersonation but also suggested the fake doctor’s real identity is Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav. The complaint further described Yadav as an individual allegedly involved in multiple controversies who tends not to stay in one location for long.

Adding to the gravity of the situation are accusations of financial impropriety. The Mission Hospital is reportedly empanelled under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Yojana, a national health scheme. Allegations suggest that by employing the unqualified individual, the hospital may have illicitly claimed government funds under this scheme.

Damoh Collector Sudhir Kochar has acknowledged receipt of the complaint detailing the alleged malpractice. He assured that further action would be determined based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

The NHRC’s probe aims to meticulously examine the irregularities, ascertain the facts behind the tragic patient deaths, and ultimately seek justice for the families affected by this alleged medical fraud and negligence.
