Brussels, Belgium – After three successful years of raising awareness through European Hormone Day, the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and the European Hormone and Metabolism Foundation (ESE Foundation) have announced the launch of the inaugural World Hormone Day, scheduled for April 24, 2025. The event will be held annually on the same date, bringing together the global endocrine community to spotlight the importance of good hormone health.

World Hormone Day will unite people across the globe under the campaign banner of #BecauseHormonesMatter, with the goal of educating the public about the vital role hormones play in overall health. From development and metabolism to fertility, cognitive functions, and the management of chronic diseases such as cancer, hormones are essential for our well-being. Yet, many are unaware of their profound impact on both common and rare health conditions.

“Hormones are vital to good health and general well-being,” said Helen Gregson, CEO of ESE. “They govern our development, growth, metabolism, fertility, and cognitive processes. People also may not realize the role hormones play in both prevalent and rare chronic diseases, including cancer. World Hormone Day is a chance to put hormones in the spotlight.”

The primary objectives of the 2025 World Hormone Day campaign are twofold. Firstly, the initiative seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of hormone health, providing actionable steps individuals can take to improve their hormone balance. Secondly, the campaign aims to engage with policymakers to advocate for enhanced prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of endocrine diseases at the national level.

To assist with these efforts, ESE has created comprehensive toolkits, available in 19 languages, to help local communities organize awareness-raising activities. These resources include infographics, posters, videos, and social media graphics focused on the messages “Why Hormones Matter” and “10 Recommendations for Good Hormone Health.”

Participants are encouraged to tailor the themes and activities to suit their specific community needs, all while rallying behind the #BecauseHormonesMatter message.

For those looking to learn more, a short animated video is available at this link, and additional resources can be found on the event’s official website, www.worldhormoneday.org, and on Instagram at @becausehormonesmatter.

This landmark initiative aims to create a global conversation about the importance of hormones and inspire actions that promote better health worldwide.
