Manjhaul, Begusarai – March 10, 2025 – In a significant move to combat period poverty and empower young girls, the Sangini Initiative has installed sanitary pad dispensers and incinerators in two schools in Manjhaul. This effort is part of a larger mission to transform Begusarai into a model district for menstrual hygiene.

This initiative, spearheaded by NOBA GSR and backed by the Press Trust of India (PTI), aims to ensure that menstrual hygiene management becomes a standard practice in rural schools. By doing so, it seeks to reduce educational disruptions for girls during their menstrual cycles, allowing them to attend school with confidence and dignity.

Currently operational in 110 government schools across multiple states, the initiative has received vital support from organizations like State Bank of India (SBI), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and PepsiCo. The success in Manjhaul is only the beginning, as Sangini aims to expand further, demonstrating its commitment to improving menstrual health awareness and accessibility across rural India.

Through the installation of sanitary pad dispensers and eco-friendly incinerators, Sangini is addressing the dual challenge of availability and disposal, ensuring a hygienic and sustainable solution for young girls. Local educators and students have welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its role in breaking menstrual taboos and fostering a more inclusive school environment.

As part of its long-term strategy, Sangini is also conducting awareness campaigns and educational workshops to educate students, teachers, and parents about menstrual health. These efforts are instrumental in destigmatizing menstruation and encouraging open discussions, which are crucial for achieving gender equality in education.

With increasing corporate and community support, the Sangini Initiative is poised to make a lasting impact, paving the way for a future where no girl’s education is hindered by the lack of menstrual hygiene resources.
