The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched extensive raids on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in Ranchi and Patna as part of its ongoing investigation into the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2024 paper leak scandal. The agency’s operations are focused on uncovering critical evidence related to the identities and financial trails of individuals allegedly involved in the racket, with particular attention on suspected money laundering activities.

According to sources, the ED is conducting searches at multiple locations, including Bariatu in Ranchi and several premises in Patna, especially those linked to relatives of the alleged mastermind, Sanjeev Mukhiya. The agency’s efforts aim to trace how illegal funds were generated through the paper leak and how these funds were subsequently transacted. The investigation was initiated after the ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) based on the FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The NEET-UG 2024 paper leak came to light following the examination held on May 5, 2024. The initial probe was launched by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in Patna before the case was handed over to the CBI. So far, the CBI has named eight individuals as accused in the case, including Sanjeev Mukhiya, Sikandar Yadavendu, Ayush Raj, Rocky, Amit Anand, Nitish Kumar, Bittu, and Akhilesh.

Authorities have also drawn connections between the NEET-UG paper leak and the Bihar constable recruitment scam of 2023, with reports suggesting that the same masterminds are involved in both cases. The ED’s recent operations have spanned across four states, targeting nearly a dozen locations in Patna, Nalanda, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Kolkata.

The raids are expected to yield significant clues regarding the financial aspects of the scam and the broader network responsible for the leak. The ED’s actions highlight the government’s commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring the integrity of national competitive examinations.
