Chandigarh, February 16: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the importance of early detection in the fight against cancer, stating that timely recognition of symptoms can make treatment possible. He made these remarks on Saturday while meeting with childhood cancer survivors, their parents, and doctors at Haryana Bhawan in observance of International Childhood Cancer Day.
During the event, the Chief Minister extended his blessings to the young survivors, wishing them a bright and healthy future. The children presented him with handprint artwork, which he signed while sharing a heartfelt message encouraging greater awareness of childhood cancer.
Highlighting the growing incidence of cancer across all age groups, CM Saini underscored the need for widespread awareness to combat the disease effectively. “Raising awareness is crucial in preventing cancer. With timely recognition of its symptoms, treatment is possible through proper medical examination,” he said.
The Chief Minister also interacted with doctors from Fortis Hospital, Gurugram, acknowledging their commendable efforts in helping young patients recover from the illness.
The Haryana government has been actively implementing measures to support cancer patients and raise awareness about the disease. Cancer patients in the state are provided with free bus travel on Haryana State Transport buses and receive financial assistance through social security programs. Additionally, the government has been organizing awareness rallies, seminars, and health camps across the state to educate the public about cancer prevention and treatment.
Health services for cancer patients are accessible through prominent institutions such as Atal Cancer Hospital in Ambala, PGIMS in Rohtak, National Cancer Institute in Jhajjar, and various daycare centers.
International Childhood Cancer Day is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about childhood cancer and providing support to children, adolescents, survivors, and their families.
